I want you to feel prepped and confident for your photo/video session, so here’s a list of some of my best tips for outfits, styling, and more! Your outfits aren’t just about looking amazing—they’re about showcasing your brand’s personality and making sure you feel great while doing it.

Your Outfits: The Secret Sauce to Your Shoot

Your outfits are very important (if not the most important) item of your shoot. Not only do you want to look amazing, but want your looks to reflect your brand.

This guide will help you plan outfits that will help you feel great, look amazing, and work perfectly with your brand.

Think in Levels of Professionalism for Your Brand

Think of your outfits as a way to tell your brand’s story. Are you more of a corporate mogul or a cozy entrepreneur? Here’s how to plan outfits that’ll perfectly match your brand’s vibe:

1. Professional
Rock the blazers, business suits, and pencil skirts! This look is perfect if you want to project high-end professionalism and impress clients at conferences or public speaking gigs.

2. Casual Professional
Think nice jeans, blazers, dressy tops, and sweaters. This is your go-to for a polished yet relaxed look. Ideal for those who work from home but still want to look sharp during Zoom meetings.

3. Day-to-Day
Keep it casual with nice jeans, comfy tops, and branded tees. Perfect for showing your everyday self and connecting with clients who appreciate a down-to-earth vibe.

4. Cozy Comfy
Embrace oversized sweaters, leggings, and cozy hoodies. If your brand resonates with a laid-back, comfy lifestyle, this look is for you. It’s all about showing off your casual side in style! 

General Styling Tips

  • Comfort is Key: Choose outfits that you feel good in. If you’re comfortable, it’ll show in your photos!

  • Layer Up: Adding layers like blazers or sweaters can give you different looks throughout the shoot.

  • Go for Solids or Simples: Avoid small stripes or busy patterns. Simple photographs best!

  • Color It Right: If you don’t know what colors look good on you, stick with the basics like black, white, cream, blue, green, burgundy, and earth tones. If you know what colors look good on you (like pink, orange, etc) GO FOR IT! I’m a fan of colors in branding photos!!

  • Avoid Busy Graphics: Keep it simple to let your personality shine through.

  • Fit Matters: Clothes should fit well—not too tight or too baggy. Structured pieces are often most flattering. Women may also prefer sleeves.

  • No Sheer Stuff: Make sure your outfits aren’t see-through.

  • Prep Your Clothes: Iron and lint roll to keep everything looking sharp.

  • Nail It: Clean, un-chipped nails complete the look and are GREAT for close up shots.

Hair & Makeup: To Hire or DIY?

While hiring a hair and makeup artist can make your photos pop, it’s totally up to you. If you prefer a DIY approach, just keep it natural and simple, or practice a bit beforehand to ensure you look your best.
